How much do you know about blood donation?

World Blood Donor Day 2016Blood transfusion saves lives and improves health, but many patients requiring transfusion do not have timely access to safe blood. Providing safe and adequate blood should be an integral part of every country’s national health care policy and infrastructure.

About 108 million blood donations are collected worldwide. More than half of these are collected in high-income countries, home to 18% of the world’s population.

There are 3 types of blood donors:

1. voluntary unpaid,

2. family/replacement,

3. paid.

WHO has designed the visual materials for use around the world for this year's World Blood Donor Day campaign. The materials are available in different formats. High resolution files for print can be requested by writing an email to worldblooddonorday@who.int. Please download and share the the "How much do you know about blood donation?"Quiz.
